On the 29th of October 2017 I was lucky enough to be invited to the Qantas Hanger at Melbourne Airport for an open day to get up and personal with the newest addition to the fleet. The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner named Great Southern Land.

Not many people get the chance to hop inside a new plane without a ticket, so this was a great opportunity for me to do so.

The plane features 236 seats with includes classes of Business (42 seats), Premium Economy (28 seats) and Economy (166 seats). Due to its ultra-light carbon fibre body it uses 20% less fuel then an aircraft of similar size.
Say goodbye to window shades! This plane has an awesome dimming feature that completely blacks out light.

The new Economy seats have extra leg room now and recline 6 degrees, the new designed seats are extra comfortable and feature a new seatback entertainment device.

Premium Economy has been re-designed. More reclined seats, extra bigger tray tables and ergonomic pillows for extra comfort.

Nothing was quite as special then The Business Class Suite. A great choose for privacy, space and comfort like many First Class products, with new seat controls you can easily recline to bed mode.

International Flights begin on the Dreamliner from the 16th of December 2017 as QF95 Melbourne – Los Angeles then QF96 Los Angeles – Melbourne. From March 2018, QF9 will be rerouted as Melbourne-Perth-London, The first non-stop flight to London from Perth, Australia. QF10 will also be rerouted as London-Perth-Melbourne. I look forward to one day flying to Europe or North America on this incredible plane with Qantas. All the best with this new product and a big thank you to Tino from Qantas for providing me tickets to this event.
Peace Out
